Students have fun with Tekkie Tax Day
Students made use of the opportunity to be different, but at the same time make a difference to their choice of non-profit organisations.
Colourful shoelaces were a must for the day as UniCollege West Rand supported and celebrated Tekkie Tax Day.
The college raised more than R700 for charity.
Tekkie Tax is the biggest and funkiest national fundraising campaign that is owned by welfare organisations, managed by welfare organisations, for the benefit of welfare organisations. More than 250 welfare organisations participated this year.
Tekkie Tax Day is all about wearing takkies and pumping them up with colourful laces to protect the vulnerable at places such as the Gateway School, Child Welfare, Cansa and various animal shelters to mention just a few.
Students made use of the opportunity to be different, but at the same time make a difference in their choice of non-profit organisations.
The college is well-known in the community for always participating in projects and giving back as much as possible.
“The students were all pumped up for the day and the atmosphere at the college was more relaxed than usual. The students had real fun,” said marketing manager, Natalie Franklin.
