Game transporters fined for traveling without documentation
Police had these and other successes over a weekend of complete visible policing.
Hekpoort Police achieved major successes in combating crime when they conducted numerous operations during the weekend of 26 May.
On Friday, the police held a roadblock on the R24 in Hekpoort. They recovered a large amount of dagga.
They also searched a house in the area and found a bag of dagga hidden behind a fridge. They arrested the owner of the house.
They also arrested a 27-year-old on Saturday, 27 May in connection with an illegal shebeen in Panarama. The illegal shebeen was closed down.
On Sunday, 28 May, members from Rural Safety Police, Visible Policing, the Hekpoort station commander and other police members gathered with members of a Nature Conservation unit and conducted an operation with the Mogale Traffic Department on the R24 in Manhaarand. They stopped and searched a bakkie which was transporting game without the necessary documentation or permits. A R700 fine was issued for contravention of the relevant Act.
Traffic fines were also issued during the roadblock and motorists were searched.
“Our members will leave no stone unturned in making sure that our community is safe at all times” said Captain Zwane, station commander for Hekpoort Police.
“Game farming is allowed, but always within the ambit of the law.”
