Police discovered that the suspects were also wanted for various other crimes which had occurred during the past two years.
Police recently arrested five suspects aged between 20 and 28 in Rietvlei, for the unlawful possession of firearms.
The police received a tip-off that the suspects were going to rob a business in the area, and rushed to the scene on Wednesday, 24 May at about 2pm. They spotted and stopped a vehicle matching the description given by their informant, on its way to the business.
They arrested the five people in the vehicle after discovering three unlicensed firearms hidden in the vehicle. The police later discovered that they were wanted for various other crimes which had occurred during the past two years in the Kagiso area.
