[WATCH] Lip-syncers battle it out for charity
The organisers did not stop at collecting money; they also collected clothes for the charity and delivered them a few days after the event.

Community members mimed their hearts out, lip-syncing to a few of the greatest songs ever made – and this all for charity.
Event Planning Gurus presented this competition. Entries benefited the well-known organisation, Mug and Tree Community Centre.
In her heartfelt speech, the founder of Mug and Tree, Trudie Naudé, told the audience why the charity needed help.

“We help little children who have been sexually assaulted by family members,” said Trudie. “I shudder every time I have to tell a little girl that it is not okay for her to sleep with her father. Or when a girl does not want to show me what’s in her hands, but eventually shows me a 50cent coin, and then tells me what horrific things she had to do for her uncle to get that coin.”
After her speech, the competition kicked off.
Lip-syncing is when an artist moves his/ her lips silently in synchrony with a pre-recorded soundtrack. Famous songs such as Alice Cooper’s Poison, John Legend’s All of me, and even a remix of the Vengaboys’ Boom Boom Boom were sung with incredible passion.
The judges, Gary Botha (ex-Springbok and Blue Bulls rugby player), Tarryn Eksteen and Adriaan Oberholzer were all entertained by the lip-syncers and ultimately chose Shaun Collins as the winner of the competition.
This is the second year that the lip-sync battle has been held, and more sponsors were involved.
The audience, sponsors and participants gave positive feedback and said it was a very successful, enjoyable, fun-filled evening.
They also indicated that they cannot wait for the next one. The organisers did not only collect money for the charity – they also collected clothes, which they delivered a few days after the event.
Corrie Chambers, member of Event Planning Gurus and organiser of the event, wants to thank Bond Gallery, Louise Tonkin Attorneys, LP Baartman, and KVV Attorneys for their sponsorship, support and positive energy during the event.
