[DC of the Week] Suspect tries to exchange fake R200 note for change
The cashier gave the note back, the perpetrator panicked and cut it into pieces, and then he was arrested.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man in Rietvallei recently after he allegedly tried to exchange a fake R200 note for change.
It is believed the suspect went to a municipal cashier in Azaadville and asked if he could have some small change. The cashier noticed that the note was fake and gave it back to him. The man panicked and decided to cut the note into pieces.

The complainant called the security guard, who apprehended the suspect and later handed him over to police. He was arrested and later detained at Kagiso Police Station.
A case docket of theft and defeating the ends of justice was opened and the man appeared briefly in court.
