Man caught stripping stolen vehicle

The suspects fled on foot, but police managed to apprehend one of them.

Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Thursday, 8 June after he was found in possession of a stolen vehicle.

The crime-prevention officers were on duty when they were approached by a man who claimed there was a suspected stolen vehicle nearby.

At the given address they noticed a vehicle matching the description of the reported stolen vehicle parked in the middle of Dove Street in Swanieville.

They approached and pounced on the two men who were busy stripping the vehicle of its parts.

When the men saw the police they fled in different directions, but the police managed to apprehend one of them.

He was detained at Kagiso Police Station.

A case of possession of stolen motor vehicle was opened and the suspect was formally charged.
