Fire department and other services contain lapa fire and save house

"It was great to see how these firemen were willing to put the victim's lives before their own to ensure everybody's safety."

A local bed and breakfast had a night of hell when their beloved lapa burnt to the ground in Lindhout Street, Noordheuwel.

Not much is known about the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, 6 June at about 7pm, but community members said they were impressed with how various emergency service personnel worked together to extinguish the fire.

The local Community Policing Forum, EPR Security and the West Rand Fire Department were on scene and quickly contained the fire. One bystander was so impressed she asked the News to acknowledge how brilliantly the firemen worked to control the fire.

“It was great to see how these firemen were willing to put the victim’s lives before their own to ensure everybody’s safety. They are truly heroes,” the bystander said.
