5 Arrested after high-speed pursuit in Muldersdrift
A white Toyota Etios linked to a crime spree was intercepted during an early morning security patrol.
Five suspects were arrested in Muldersdrift during the early hours of September 18 after a local security company intercepted a vehicle linked to several crimes.
According to Guardmax Protection Services sales manager Gerrie van Rooyen, units were promptly dispatched after receiving a panic signal regarding suspicious activity at about 03:05.
“Upon arrival, it was confirmed that an attempted break-in occurred at the client’s property, where the electric fence was found cut, and a wooden door was damaged,” he said.

Van Rooyen added that while investigating the damaged fence, guards noticed a suspicious white Toyota Etios driving slowly on the R114 towards Nooitgedacht.
The team investigated, engaging in a short pursuit before successfully intercepting the vehicle with five suspects inside.
“The guards apprehended the suspects, searched the vehicle, and found a bunch of stolen items,” Van Rooyen said. “The client stated that the recovered items were not from his property; however, the suspects were indeed busy with wrongdoings for a while and fortunately met the wrong team at the wrong place,” he explained.

Recovered items include:
• 28 cellphones
• two tablets
• various break-in equipment
• a stash of liquor
Vehicle linked to previous incidents
“The suspects and recovered items were handed over to Muldersdrift police for further processing and investigation,” Van Rooyen said.
“Previous information also revealed that this was the second time the same vehicle was intercepted in two months – previously abandoned, and this time with five suspects. It has also been confirmed that the vehicle is positively linked to other incidents in and around Muldersdrift.”
The News reached out to Gauteng Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko at 08:16 on September 23 for comment. However, at the time of publication, no response had been received. Any feedback will be published once received.
