High speed chase – drunk driver arrested
Police chased the suspect who lost control of his vehicle and smashed into a resident's barrier wall.
Kagiso Police received a tip-off about a suspicious-looking vehicle being driven around in Kagiso on Sunday, 2 July, at about 1am. The information also revealed that the person behind the wheel was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Members of the Provincial Trio Task Team proceeded to the area and spotted a vehicle that matched the description given to them. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off. Police chased the suspect who lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a resident’s barrier wall.

Police confirmed that the driver was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He was also found to be under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Kagiso Police Station, where he was detained.
A case of drunken driving and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was opened. He will appear in court soon.
