Murderers, hijackers, rapists among those arrested this week
Police arrested 376 on the West Rand during the past week.
The police in the West Rand Cluster arrested 376 suspects during the week of Monday, 3 to Sunday, 9 July.
The arrests were accompanied by excellent seizures of stolen and hijacked motor vehicles, and unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Various crime prevention and intelligence-driven operations throughout the Cluster contributed to these successes.

Crimes which landed suspects behind bars ranged from serious – murder, armed robbery, business robbery, hijacking, drunken driving, sexual offences, and rape, to less serious – such as housebreaking and theft, theft, possession of suspected stolen goods, defeating the ends of justice, reckless and negligent driving, illegal mining, fraud, possession of stolen property and possession of gold-bearing materials.
Major General Anna Mateisi, cluster commander for the West Rand Cluster applauded the members for their diligence, professionalism and commitment towards securing the West Rand Cluster.
“The West Rand community can rest assured that, with their support, the men and women in this cluster will not allow the criminal elements to thrive. Together, we will make a difference,” said Mateisi.
