Uber driver hijacked in Krugersdorp in broad daylight

The couple pretended to be clients and once they were in the vehicle they pointed a firearm at the driver.

The Krugersdorp Police have reported that an Uber driver was hijacked by two customers in Krugersdorp.

The driver picked up a man and a woman at Westgate Mall on 21 July. They allegedly wanted to be dropped off somewhere in Krugersdorp.

To the driver’s surprise, once the occupants were in the vehicle, the man pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him.

The driver claimed the couple ordered him to get out of the vehicle. Once he was out, they took his cellphone and sped off in his vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla with the registration number DB 43 DK GP.

No shots were fired and no injuries reported.

The police are still investigating the matter and appeal to any person who spots the vehicle or who has information to contact them on 011 951 1151 or the Crime Stop number, 08600 10111.
