Driver assaults traffic officer and speeds off
He returned to the scene later because he'd left his licence with the officer, and was arrested.
A 41-year-old suspect was arrested at noon on Monday, 14 August after allegedly assaulting an on-duty traffic officer at an intersection in Kagiso.
The Mogale City traffic officer pulled the suspect over for a routine check.
The driver stopped, but allegedly became angry and aggressive. He allegedly insulted the officer and further assaulted him with fists before getting back into his car and speeding off.

A few minutes later the suspect returned to the scene, having realised he had left his driver’s licence with the officer.
On arrival at the scene, the suspect allegedly charged at the officer and manhandled him, demanding the return of his driver’s licence. Another officer who had just arrived at the scene helped his colleague to place the suspect under arrest.
The suspect was later detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of resisting arrest and assaulting a police official was opened against him. He appeared briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody for formal bail application.
