Rape victim finally gets justice for murdered friend
The suspects shot the man and forced the woman into an open field and raped her.
Two 24-year-old suspects were arrested on Thursday, 17 August in connection with a rape and the murder of a man earlier this year.
It’s believed they’re involved in a criminal case opened in April after police found a man in an open space next to a clinic in Tshepisong.
Paramedics were on scene and certified the 27-year-old man dead with bystanders including female colleagues weeping around his body.
One of the deceased’s female colleagues gave a significant statement to police. She said they were walking in an open field nearby when she noticed two suspects, one carrying a firearm. The suspects approached them and demanded they hand over their personal belongings while one swung the firearm towards them.

The suspects took their cellphones and told the deceased to remove his jeans and takkies. The suspects then shot the man and forced the woman into an open field. One of the suspects raped her. The man sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body and died as a result of it.
The woman reported the incident to Kagiso Police and they in turn launched a manhunt for the two suspects.
They were arrested three months later and were detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case of murder and rape was reopened against them.
They have appeared briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
