Sons carry father’s legacy in funeral parlour

Tlhapane Funeral Home owner's passing is not an end to the family business.

The Tlhapane family would like to assure the West Rand community that their funeral parlour is still there for them when they lose their loved ones, despite the owner’s recent death.

The late Patrick ‘Bra Victor’ Tlhapane is survived by his wife, Keletso, and four children, Thabiso, Letlogonolo, Neo and Kutlwano. The eldest son, Thabiso, is now the director of Tlhapane Funeral Home (TFH) after his father passed away on 18 August and was laid to rest on 27 August in Kagiso. Assisted by his brother, Letlogonolo and their mother, they aim to take the funeral parlour to new heights.

“The headquarters of TFH is in Munsieville. The two branches situated in Kagiso and Tshepisong are manned by relationship managers who deal with the day-to-day operations of the business and assist clients. Our clients seem to have lost confidence in TFH since the passing of my father. I promise the communities of Kagiso and Munsieville that our service is still good, and my mother would like to thank clients who have been with us since our business first opened its doors,” said Thabiso. He said what sets them apart is that TFH assisted indigents with proper burials, and worked with the Mogale City municipality for about five years, making TFH a reputable mortuary.

“My father was passionate about helping people, especially the people of Munsieville, because that is where he started this mortuary.

A respected family man, he helped people regardless of whether he knew them or not. That taught me the spirit of Ubuntu,” said Thabiso.

Moving forward, he said he would like to improve on their services, for example by increasing the number of branches to assist people arranging funerals outside Gauteng.
