A few minutes later, two other suspects appeared, one armed and the other with his face covered by a balaclava. The three assailants ordered the complainant to lie down on the floor at gunpoint. They then searched the spaza shop and took the owner’s two cellphones and a driver’s licence. One suspect went to the complainant’s car and found keys in the ignition.
They then took the car in which there was an undisclosed amount of cash and groceries, and sped off. The matter was later reported to the Kagiso police and a search for the suspects began. An intensive investigation coupled with the community’s involvement led to the successful arrest of the former employee. His two accomplices are still at large.
