Reusable pads so girls can go to school

The pads can be reused for up to five years which should see the girls through to almost the end of their high school career.

Palesa Pads have teamed up with the PadMe Foundation and various other corporate organisations to gather donations for Lesego Primary School in Muldersdrift.

They are aiming to donate Flo Kits to the most disadvantaged girls attending the school. These kits contain nine reusable sanitary pads as well as a bucket and cleaning agent to wash the pads. There is also a set of three panties for each girl as many of them can’t afford panties.

The pads can be reused for up to five years, which should see the girls through to almost the end of their high-school career. They will never have to miss school again due to the lack of sanitary pads.

But, the organisers still have some way to go as they need donations of money, pads, panties and some sweets to make the sure everyone gets something.

Avianto Hotel and Conferencing Venue, which is next to Lesego Primary School has tentatively agreed to host a party for the girls before the exams start, where they will play games and answer questions to win their kits rather than just receiving them as a handout, which makes them feel embarrassed.

The party will also include lunch, sweets and cold drinks to make the girls feel special. To find out how you can contribute, contact Shérie on 066 006 6359 or 082 445 1779.
