Mogale Mayor gives oldies some blankets
Lipudi decided to handover the blankets on Valentine’s Day.
Mogale City’s Executive Mayor, Councillor Naga Patrick Lipudi, lived up to his promise when he handed over more than 300 blankets to the senior citizens of Kagiso.
Lipudi promised last year, during the celebration of Nelson Mandela Day, to donate blankets to the needy. The Mayor was joined by Ward 6 councillor, Doreen David, who presided over the event.
The event took place at the Kagiso Care for the Aged Centre near the Kagiso Police Station. Lipudi said he decided to handover the blankets on Valentine’s Day. He also touched on the municipal programme of provision of houses to the vulnerable people.

“I’m happy to be joining you in celebrating Valentine’s Day. This is the day where we show love to our people and shower them with gifts. I made a promise last year and here am I fulfilling that promise,” Lipudi said.
“Giving these gifts to you is one way of saying thanks for the support and love that I have received from you ever since I took office as Executive Mayor. I hope that we will continue working together moving forward,” he said.
There was a long round of applause, song and dance when the Mayor announced that the aged, child-headed houses and disabled people will be first in line when the city allocates houses.
“We took a conscious decision as municipal leaders that we are going to change the lives of our people for the better. One way of doing that is the provision of houses, with more emphasis on the aged, child-headed houses and disabled people. We want to make sure that our aged have roofs over their heads, so that when they depart this world they will leave a lasting legacy to their children and grandchildren. We have already started with that programme and we will continue to do so for as long as we are in office.”
The centre manager, Lorraine Mothetoa, was equally excited and said, “We are so happy for our senior citizens that they are receiving blankets from the Executive Mayor. The Mayor made this promise last year and we are proud that he fulfilled it, and we hope that they will enjoy the gifts.”
