Woman who died in scooter accident identified

Tragically she had sustained severe injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do to help her.

The woman who lost her life in a scooter accident on Friday night, 23 March on Commissioner Street, has been identified as 49-year-old Maria Wright.

Nick Dollman, spokesperson for Netcare 911, said the victim was found trapped underneath the vehicle when paramedics arrived at the scene. Tragically, she had sustained severe injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do to help her. The cause of the incident has not yet been confirmed by police.

A memorial service for Maria will be held on Thursday, 29 March at 3pm at the Christian Faith Worship Centre, situated on the corner of Sarel Cilliers and Sarel Potgieter Streets, Monument.

Her funeral and burial will take place on Tuesday, 3 April at 11am at the Solid Ground Church situated at 2 End Street in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
