Five free things you can do during the Easter weekend
Whether you want to picnic or exercise, Krugersdorp has lots of free activities for you during Easter weekend.
Krugersdorp is surrounded by fun places you can visit during the Easter weekend – free of charge.
Pack your picnic basket and head over to Coronation Dam and have a lovely day underneath the trees. Coronation Park has been upgraded over the last few months and the roads inside the park are lovely. The trees provide ample shade, you can fish if you like, or just take the kids out to run around in the wide open spaces. You can also hide some Easter eggs for them among the trees.

If you’d rather have a swim in the last bit of the summer sun, head over to the Krugersdorp West Swimming Pool and have a dip in the sparkling blue water. Although entrance costs R5 per adult and R2 per child, it is considered ridiculously cheap to go for a swim. You can take a picnic basket along and relax beneath the trees. Just remember – no alcohol is allowed on the pool’s premises.
You can also take a nice walk around Monument Dam (at Key West Shopping Centre) and hide eggs for the children underneath the trees. They can watch the ducks that are always around or just enjoy the silence.

Also just a few metres from the dam, there’s an outdoor gym where one can exercise for free. If you can skateboard, head over to the Key West Skate Park, which is in the same area as the dam and gym. There’s also an outdoor remote control car track where racers can bring their cars and test their skills.
Kudu Park is a piece of open veld on Robert Broom Drive and Koedoe Street in Rant-en-Dal. There area is not enclosed and residents of the area often have picnics there. Take your kids there and hide some Easter eggs underneath the trees.
