Take part in People for Wildlife Amazing Race

If you have a thirst for adventure, a love for wild animals and are eager to explore, you might want to keep Sunday, 6 May open in your diary.

On this day, the People for Wildlife committee will be hosting their first-ever Amazing Race, which will be an experimental fund-raising event.

The objective of the exercise will not only be to raise much-needed funds for their conservation efforts but also to make people aware of the work being done to protect our wildlife heritage.

Fantastic prizes are on offer and the first three racers are guaranteed prize money of:

• First prize: R5 000

• Second prize: R2 000

• Third prize: R1 000

How it works:

• The race is based on the television programme. The teams have to drive to various landmarks and attractions and then have to perform certain tasks in order to score points.

• The team that completes the courses in a given time and scores the most points at each stop will win the race.

• The ‘pit stops’ are planned not to delay the team for more than 10 to 15 minutes, after which they are given their next clue and sent on their way.

• The event will kick off at 8am at the Khosa Club on the corner of Shannon and Fredrick Cooper Drive, Krugersdorp. The last teams are scheduled to return to the Khosa Club shortly after 2.30pm the same day.

• Entry numbers will determine placing at the start line.

How to enter:

• A team consisting of one vehicle and a maximum of four people enters the race by submitting the entry form.

• An entry fee of R800 per team secures a place in the race.

• A limited amount of teams can be catered for; therefore a first come, first served basis will be used to determine the competitors.

• Teams will be given their starting time according to their entry number.

The last step, Gerrie Schoeman from People for Wildlife added, is to enter and go MAD (Make A Difference).

If you are interested in entering, feel free to send an email to info@peopleforwildlife.org.
