Municipality empowers artists

On Thursday, 19 April and Friday, 20 April a great many talented spirits saw Mogale City Local Municipality hosting an astounding Arts and Culture Capacity Building Workshop.

Recently, the Krugersdorp Banquet Hall was filled with vivid imaginations, beautiful melodies and perfectly framed shots when all kinds of artists from every corner of Mogale City attended a striking two-day workshop.

On Thursday, 19 April and Friday, 20 April, a great many talented spirits saw Mogale City Local Municipality hosting an astounding Arts and Culture Capacity Building Workshop.

According to Heritage, Arts and Culture Assistant Manager, Godfrey Naledzani, the workshop was organised in an effort to empower all local artists.

During the two days the following topics were covered:

• Arts and Culture Business (registration process and copyright etc).

• Enabling of artists in the arts, culture and heritage sector to manage and sustain their businesses.

• Grant funding (from local, provincial and national government departments as well as private sectors).

• Arts and Culture Policies on national and provincial level and their impact on local government level).

• Overview on the state of arts and culture in Mogale City.

• Launching of the Mogale City Arts and Culture Forum.

The workshop was attended by various members of the community representing the following main and sub-sectors of cultural and creative industries:

• Performing Arts

• Theatre

• Music

• Dance

• Poetry

• Comedy

Visual Arts and Crafts:

• Fine Arts

• Photography

• Crafts

Audio-visual:

• Film and Video

• Television and Radio

Design and Creative Arts:

• Fashion Design

• Graphic Design

• Interior Design
