Man attacks his mother with a golf club

When the club broke into pieces, he fetched an iron rod and continued to assault her.

Family disputes can be ugly sometimes, especially when a man becomes so angry and violent that he fails to control his temper and ends up attacking his own parent.

A 27-year-old man was arrested early on Wednesday morning, 16 May, after he had allegedly attacked his mother.

The man’s grandmother alleged that he had attacked his mother the previous day at about 11am while she was at her residence. An argument allegedly broke out between them that led to the man attacking and assaulting her with a golf club, causing injury to the face and body. When the club broke into pieces, the suspect went outside and fetched an iron rod and continued to assault his mother.

Once she was outside the room, she screamed for help and the suspect began to destroy her cellphone, wardrobes, TV set, sliding door and chairs.

Neighbours called the police who responded swiftly and apprehended the man. He was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious injury to property was opened.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
