Justin Fernandes, the manager of Jugomaro Predator Park SA, which used to be in Oaktree, Krugersdorp, has uploaded a second video onto his Facebook page, describing the horrific ordeal during which four of his lions were poisoned.
At about 2am this morning, 25 May, Fernandes and his team were walking around the park when they heard their wolf barking.

The found Elvis (one of the lions) sitting next to a fence biting into it so hard that he actually bent it, and his jaw was stuck in the gate. They got the keys of the den to move him from the gate and as they moved him away, Fernandes could see that something else wasn’t right with the lion. They then started doing CPR on Elvis. They looked for Kai (a second lion) and found that he was already dead.

“We were just waiting for Elvis to die because we could still hear him breathing. By the time we got there, the perpetrators had already run away,” said Fernandes.
“We heard Tyreque and Hercules (two more lions) start throwing up and as soon as we saw them, we noticed they were wobbling from side to side while walking. We just couldn’t get the vets in time to save them.”
At sunrise pieces of the poisoned meat could be seen lying all around the inside of the dens. The team found a rabbit, a piece of liver, a stick with meat – all drenched in Temik, or Two-Step as it is known on the streets. Opportunistic robbers use Temik to poison dogs.
Fernandes cried throughout the whole video with terrible sadness.

“I just don’t know what to do any more. They poisoned the lions by throwing liver doctored with Two-Step into the lions’ dens. The cats took it so hard. They were biting on the fence because they were in so much pain. Everything I’ve worked for is basically falling apart again.”
He cried even harder when he said that he had to start digging graves for the dead lions. “It’s probably the worst feeling ever,” he wept.
He alerted authorities and police arrived shortly after his discovery.
