Sterkfontein Hospital nurses thanked for their service
The theme of the day was 'Nursing: A voice to lead – health is a human right'.
In May, Sterkfontein Hospital celebrated Nurses Day (6 May) by treating its nurses to a day of acknowledgement, motivation, inspiration and last, but not least, a delectable lunch.
The event, which was held in the hospital’s recreation hall, was directed by Mr D Ramalatswa and Ms N Gongxeka. The theme of the day was ‘Nursing: A voice to lead – health is a human right’.

After the nurses were welcomed, the national anthem was sung by a choir and hospital CEO M Maunya also gave a word of thanks. The guests were subsequently received the purpose and the message of the day, followed by a performance by a brass band and the inspiring words of a motivational speaker.

They also had an award ceremony where several nurses were awarded in the following categories:
• Outstanding work attendance
• Professional image and conduct
• Infection prevention and control
• Leadership patient safety walkabout
• Candidate best in Q and A standards/ staff attitude
• Leadership award
The event ended off on a high note when lunch was served and the nurses had the opportunity to spend some quality time together.
