Eight-year-old child among injured in head-on collision

One person sustained numerous serious injuries during the crash.

Two people sustained serious injuries during a collision between a Volkswagen Caddy and a truck on Chamdor Road late on Tuesday afternoon, 12 June.

The paramedics of Emer-G-med were among the first rescue teams on the scene. In a statement, the team had said that upon arrival they found one vehicle at the side of the road and the other in the middle of the road.

They found that the passengers in the Caddy had numerous serious injuries.

Alongside ER24 paramedics, they treated a woman with a broken arm and other injuries, and an eight-year-old boy. They were both transported to hospital by helicopter. The driver of the truck got away with a few scrapes and bruises.

Eyewitnesses explained that they believed the Caddy and truck had collided head-on, after which the truck driver lost control of his vehicle and rolled it.

Authorities were on scene to determine the cause of the collision and the events preceding it.
