Mindalore Shopping Centre to be demolished?
The centre, which is located on the corner of Trezona Avenue and Van Lill Street, consists of the Witbeeck Post Office, a Shoprite Usave and the Inqaba Pub and Grill, among many others.
The News recently received several reports alleging that the Mindalore Shopping Centre is to be demolished soon to make way for a new development.
The centre, which is located on the corner of Trezona Avenue and Van Lill Street, houses the Witbeeck Post Office, a Shoprite Usave, and the Inqaba Pub and Grill among many others.
According to various tenants, the centre was sold approximately six months ago. However, they did not know what the new owner had in mind with the centre.

“We learnt through the grapevine in February that the building is being closed down. We considered this to be just a rumour at the time, since we had not received any official, formal notice from the owner,” said Violet Kutane, Witbeeck Post Office branch manager.

She went on to say that after growing more and more suspicious over the period of a few months, the post office contacted the owner for more clarity.
“All we got was an informal note stating that we have to be out by Friday, 29 June. Apart from that, we didn’t receive any answers,” she said.

Just like the post office, none of the other shops received any form of official notice.
“They left us in the dark. Neither the old owner, or the new owner, told us anything. We don’t know what’s going to happen,” said one of the shop workers, who wanted to remain anonymous.
When the News contacted the new centre owner, he declined to comment on the matter.
According to Johan Kruger from SA Post Office’s Communications Division, operations will move to the Isando branch on the corner Kram and Isando Roads in Kempton Park.
Post boxes will remain at the current location and employees will be redeployed to the Dunswart and Isando branches.
