Man who photographed Rand West official flipping the bird speaks

The man said the official was a racist and verbally abusive person.

The man who photographed a Rand West Municipality official who was parked in a demarcated disabled parking space at a hypermarket in Krugersdorp yesterday, spoke to the News about the racially motivated scene which played out.

Stiaan Lubbe, 26, and his wife were in the hypermarket’s parking area on their way to go shopping when a foreign couple approached the official who was parked in the disabled parking. The man asked the official to please move his vehicle because his wife was in a wheelchair.

Lubbe said what happened next really upset him.

“The official started swearing at the couple, spewing out racial slurs which stunned my wife and me,” Lubbe said.

“I immediately approached the official and informed him that his behaviour towards the couple was really upsetting and that it was no way to talk to people, let alone foreigners.”

Lubbe said the official swore at him too and told him, “That is why you white farmers get shot”.

Lubbe then took out his cellphone and took a photo of the verbally abusive official who gave him the middle finger in the process.

Lubbe said he will make sure this matter will not be swept under the rug and will make contact with the Rand West Municipality’s manager, Themba Goba, in order for them to be aware of the full story so that proper action can be taken against the official.
