Some noteworthy events taking place this weekend.
It might be the weekend before payday but that does not mean you have to sit at home and sulk. Here are some fun events happening around town this weekend and next week.
Cantare Choral Celebration Concert

20 JULY — The Cantare Choir will be hosting a celebration concert at the Linder Auditorium in Parktown from 7pm. All the choirs featured in this concert participated in the World Choir Games and achieved a minimum of a bronze for their performance. Some of the choirs singing are Jacaranda Children’s Choir, Monnas (Hoërskool Monument) and the Linder Choir. Tickets cost R80 to R120 and are available at www.webtickets.co.za.
The Crown of the Russian Ballet
21 JULY — The acclaimed international theatre company, the Royal Moscow Ballet, will be returning to Johannesburg for two days only at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace. The dazzling double-bill programme embraces Marius Petipa’s One Act Ballet, the Paquita with music by Ludwig Minkus; and Anatoly Emilianov’s choreographic interpretation of the Firebird to the musical composition of Igor Stravinsky. Classic Car Meander

22 JULY — The Rotary Club of Brits Hartbeespoort is organising a Classic Car Meander to raise funds for the Childhood Cancer Foundation. The cars will start at French Toast at 8am and then meander their way around the Hartbeespoort Dam before finishing at the Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort. The cars will have stop overs at various scenic locations around the dam, where they will complete challenges to earn amazing prizes. These include The Cableway, Dockside Café, Van Gaalen Cheese Farm and Aviators Brewing Company. The cars will then be on display at the Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort until 1pm and the public are invited to view them. The cost for cars to enter this meander is R200, which includes a driver pack filled with a variety of goodies. Spring Festival at Garden World

27 JULY — The 24th Annual Spring Festival is back at Garden World until 2 September. The garden design show, called A Sense of Place, is sure to mesmerise visitors once again. For more details, visit https://www.gardenworld.co.za.
