10 shots fired at EPR vehicle

The officers had left their vehicles to patrol a business and returned to find one of the vehicles peppered with bullet holes.

The private security company EPR West Rand has expressed its concern over a shooting that occurred on 28 July, saying that it could have been fatal for its officers.

At about midnight that night, EPR received a panic signal from a business premises in Chamdor, Krugersdorp.

On arrival, Reaction Officer (R/O) Smit was informed by the guard on duty that suspects had made a hole in the boundary wall. He called for back-up and when R/O Lundt arrived, they inspected the premises together with the guard.

While inside the premises, they heard several gunshots coming from the area where the EPR vehicles were parked.

They returned to their vehicles and discovered that approximately 10 shots had been fired at one of the EPR response vehicles. The perpetrators had fled the scene and were nowhere to be found. It’s suspected the gunmen might have thought that R/O Smit was still inside his vehicle at the time they fired the shots.

EPR posted on its Facebook page that they “are very grateful that nobody was injured during the incident.”
