[FOLLOW UP] Lanseria man shot in head during farm attack, dies

This isn't the first attack on farmers in Muldersdrift and its surrounding areas and residents are scared for their lives.

Lanseria — The man who was shot in the head early on Sunday morning, 22 July after intruders entered his house on his farm in Lanseria, has unfortunately died.

Drift Reaction, a local security group operating in Muldersdrift, reported that the man, who had previously been hospitalised due to the severity of his injuries, had been permanently blinded by the gunshot and was battling to survive. He died on Tuesday, 31 July.

The three suspects who had shot him are still at large and police investigations are continuing.

Residents of the area are scared for their lives as this was not the only attack reported in July.

On 4 July a woman was shot and killed in Nooitgedacht. The same night a man was shot in his legs in the same area. Drift Reaction also reported an armed house robbery in Lanseria on 11 July, but fortunately no one was injured in that attack.

In other areas on the West Rand, more farm and smallholding attacks have been confirmed.

On 15 July, a couple (both in their 70s) were attacked on their farm in Tarlton. They were severely beaten and sustained injuries during the attack.
