Woman, 81, severely injured in Muldersdrift attack

These incidents make it clear why Muldersdrift has the nickname "Murdersdrift".

Another elderly woman was attacked in Muldersdrift on 30 July, bringing the number of attacks during July to five in Muldersdrift alone.

A local security company reported that the 81-year-old woman was attacked and assaulted by armed robbers in a shop in Muldersdrift. She was assisting her family by running their shop. They were held up by two suspects. Her daughter stated that the intruders then tried to strangle her mother. One suspect was allegedly caught and arrested and police are busy investigating the matter.

This isn’t the first victim of such an attack that was attended to by armed response personnel. Earlier in July, a man who was shot in the head and subsequently died in hospital. There were also two separate attacks on 4 July in Nooitgedacht, where one woman died, and a man sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
