Man arrested for rape and child porn gets extended bail
Several items were seized including laptops, hard drives and 250 DVDs of child pornography.
A 45-year-old man accused of rape and sexual assault appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 August.
The man was arrested after an 11-year-old girl allegedly told her mother that the man had been abusing her for years.
According to Provincial Police spokesperson, Lungelo Dlamini, the mother subsequently reported the allegations to the police, which led to a search-and-seize operation.
After the child was taken for medical examination, follow-up investigations led to the arrest of the suspect.

When a search of his premises was conducted, several items were seized, including laptops, hard drives and 250 DVDs of child pornography. It is alleged that the suspect resided on the same property as the mother and child.
He currently faces charges of rape, sexual assault, grooming, exposing a child to pornography and possession of child pornography.
The case has been postponed to Wednesday, 26 September for compilation of charges by the State.
