Man who murdered his brother on Christmas Eve sentenced

He had previous convictions against him but was let go after he paid a R500 fine.

The man who killed his brother the day before Christmas last year was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment early last month.

Sipho Godfrey Dludlu, 25, murdered of his 27-year-old brother during a minor argument at his house in Mogale Village, commonly known as Matshelapad.

Detective Sergeant Bontle Dhlamini was assigned to investigate the matter and she did not disappoint as she managed to get credible witnesses to testify against Dludlu.

Sergeant Dhlamini revealed that the suspect had a previous conviction on an assault charge, dating back as far as 2012. He was given a choice between a R500 fine or 30 days’ imprisonment which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that he was not convicted of assault during that period.

Tarlton Police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tsoaedi, welcomed and applauded the good work by Sergeant Dhlamini, Visible Policing members, the community, witnesses and the team from the Department of Justice.
