Casino staff share school shoes
Silverstar staff collected 60 pairs of new school shoes for boys and girls.
Embracing the spirit of both Mandela Day and Youth Day – and just for the fun of it – the staff at Silverstar went ‘back to school’, donning their school uniforms and collecting brand new school shoes to be donated to learners at a school in Swanieville.

Anneke Potgieter, Silverstar’s Director of Operations and Complex GM, said, “When our community-caring staff heard that there was a great need for new school shoes for youngsters in the Rietvallei Ext 5 Secondary School, they immediately decided to do something about it, linking the shoe drive to a celebration of Youth Day and the happy memories of their own school days – and the handover to the spirit of giving that epitomises Mandela Day”.
Silverstar staff collected 60 pairs of new school shoes for boys and girls, which were handed over to learners on Mandela Day on July 18. At the handover, Deputy Principal Charles Rampfumedzi said, “We are so grateful you chose our school to donate these shoes to”.

The Silverstar Corporate Social Investment (CSI) shoe initiative dovetails perfectly with the Tsogo Sun group’s focus on education for disadvantaged children and youth, equipping them for successful futures. “It was an honour to donate these shoes on behalf of Silverstar, and now, having seen the need for shoes first-hand, we will increase our efforts to continue collecting shoes for disadvantaged learners in our community,” Adele Wilson, Silverstar’s CSI Manager, said,
Tsogo Sun’s portfolio includes over 100 hotels and 13 casino and entertainment destinations throughout South Africa, the rest of Africa, the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi.
