The robber did not anticipate the resident firing back.

In the early hours of this morning, 30 August, one robbery suspect was killed when a Nooitgedacht resident and his son were allegedly attacked in their home.

A 58-year-old man was woken by a loud noise coming from the lounge in his home.

According to the Muldersdrift Police report, the man grabbed his shotgun and headed to his son’s room after hearing a noise there too.

“He fired a warning shot, but his son told him not to shoot because a suspect had a gun to his head,” Muldersdrift Police spokesperson, Constable Slindile Ntuli, said.

The suspect allegedly pointed the gun away from the son and fired a shot and during the commotion, the son managed to run out of the room. His father then fired several shots.
