Road safety of Mogale children prioritised
Representatives from Deltabloc SA and South African Road Federation were thrilled to hand over approximately 80 reflective safety vests.
On Wednesday, 5 September, the Mogale City Traffic Department received a special visit from various stakeholders that are involved in an initiative aimed at improving the road safety of children in local schools.
Representatives from Deltabloc SA and the South African Road Federation (SARF) were thrilled to hand over approximately 80 reflective safety vests.
According to Garth Strong, Deltabloc SA managing director, these vests will be distributed among adults who assist children from local schools to use the pedestrian crossing at their schools.
This follows after SARF was involved in the Botnar Road Safety Challenge project, which is managed by the Global Road Safety Partnership. Through this project, the safety of children crossing roads around Paardekraal Primary School was enhanced by putting up new road signs and refurbishing pedestrian crossings.

SARF and its members now aim to revamp the Junior Traffic Training Centre in Coronation Park.
The next project will include collecting data of all 89 schools in Mogale City and identifying the top 10 to 15 schools with the worst road safety infrastructures.
