Hekpoort robber busted after intimidating woman

The 32-year-old woman was at home when the suspect entered.

Hekpoort Police arrested a 25-year-old male suspect for house robbery on Tuesday, 11 September in Soshanguve just outside Hekpoort.

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly at her home, sitting with her two children, aged eight and 10. The suspect, who is known to the woman, entered and demanded certain items.

“He took cellphones and a wallet containing bank, Sassa and retail cards. The woman demanded her property back, upon which the suspect produced a firearm and pointed it at her,” Constable Gloria Maswanganye, Hekpoort Police spokesperson said.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police, who searched for the suspect. Their search led them to Soshanguve, where he was arrested.

According to Constable Maswanganye, the suspect will appear court today (12 September).
