About 50 men attack local mine security guards

It is alleged that the attackers demanded money.

During the early hours of Friday, 21 September at about 2.10am, a group of approximately 50 unknown males attacked security guards at Mogale Gold Mine.

The attackers allegedly demanded money. They fired shots at the security guards, seriously injuring one of them.

“The 35-year-old injured man was taken to hospital. Krugersdorp Police are investigating a case of attempted murder,” Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson said.

“We are appealing to the community to assist with information that could assist with the investigation of this case.”
