A warm plate of food for the homeless
The Open Arms organisation and Krugersdorp War against Drugs went around and fed the homeless people of Krugersdorp.
Members of the Open Arms organisation and Krugersdorp War Against Drugs drove around town recently and delivered warm meals to the homeless residents of Krugersdorp.
These two organisations try to do this drive once a month.
The drive started at 7.30pm and group members did not have to travel far before finding the first group to receive food.
Car guards, men, women and children all came out of dark corners on the streets to stand in line for a warm plate of pap or rice and mince.
These two groups plan to host a hair care day at the end of the month. Those who need it will then be welcome to come and have their hair washed and cut.
“It is such a treat for these people as there is no way for them to wash their hair on the street and things like soap and shampoo are hard to come by,” said Hendriette van der Berg, from Open Arms.
They also want to give out sweets to the children living on the streets and are asking for the community’s help with donations.
If you are willing to help these organisations, you can phone Hendriette on 084 525 1020.
