Mindalore explosions nothing to worry about

The loud bangs that residents of the Mindalore area heard are nothing to be afraid of.

The News received some frantic calls and Facebook messages about explosions occurring in Mindalore.

From about noon today, residents of the area started hearing what sounded like a series of explosions coming from the mine dump area near Chamdor Road.

Residents of the area claimed to hear and feel what they thought to be earthquakes. The sound from the blasts was heard all the way into Witpoortjie.

There is, however, nothing to fear as the noises were the result of a series of controlled explosions at the new graveyard in Mindalore, making way for water pipes and infrastructure.

As development continues, it is sometimes necessary for these explosions, said an eyewitness on the scene.
