Krugersdorp WAD helping the homeless this Christmas
The Krugersdorp War Against Drugs organisation wants to distribute 100 gift bags to the homeless this year.
The Krugersdorp War Against Drugs group, in cooperation with Kosmos Angels, are planning to bring Christmas to the homeless residents of the Krugersdorp.
This will be the second year this group will be helping the community.
Last year they distributed boxes containing toiletries, sweets and clothing to 60 homeless residents, but this year they want to reach the 100 mark.
“Last year we did the boxes but because it is difficult for people to carry around boxes we decided to put the gifts in bags this year,” said Darrel Roberts, one of the organisation’s founders.
The other founder, Hester Foxcroft, is making these bags herself and AM Printers are helping them out with the printing on the bags.
The idea originated with the Kosmos Angels in Rustenburg. Last year, the Angels were looking to expand their project to other towns and that is when the Krugersdorp War Against Drugs group became involved.
According to Darrel, they are still looking to expand to other towns and anyone who is willing to help can contact Kosmos Angels on their Facebook page.
Each bag will have the following:
• A black Croxley book with a Bible verse written inside
• A pen
• A toothbrush
• Shampoo and body lotion
• Roll of toilet paper
• Vaseline
• Lip Ice
• Roll-on deodorant
• Sanitary pads for the ladies and a razor for the men
• Tissues
• Hat (most of the people are in the sun the whole day)
• Sweets and cookies
• A special present (because it is Christmas)
• Plastic bottle (to save water)
• Instant cool drink
• Two Minute Noodles or Cup-a-Soup.
If you would like to contribute to these bags, please contact Hester on 081 769 4256.
