Out and about and around town this weekend
The festive season kicks off with classics like Carols by Candlelight and a blood drive.
With the kids home on holiday it might get tricky to keep them busy, but in the meantime you can celebrate the reason for the festive season by attending some great local events like these:
Carols by Candlelight
7 DECEMBER — Join Rhema West, at 261 Voortrekker Road, Monument, for a sing-along Carols by Candlelight at 7pm. Thrive Kids are doing an item and the Rhema band will perform. What better way to start the festive season! Entrance is R20 per adult and R10 per child under 12. There will be food and snacks for sale from 6:30pm. For more information, visit their website www.rhemawest.co.za or email info@rhemawest.co.za.
Three Koppie Hike
9 DECEMBER — Join the three-koppie group hike of up to 8km or three hours through the Melville Koppies. You can park, meet, and pay in the upper parking area at Marks Park in Judith Road, Emmarentia. Hike sets off 8.30am sharp so arrive well in time. Costs are R60 for adults and R40 children — all donations are used to maintain the Koppies. Hikers must be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. No dogs allowed. Call Wendy Carstens on 011 482 4797 or visit www.mk.org.za.
And next week:
Festive season blood drive
14 DECEMBER — RE/MAX Town and Country on Voortrekker Road will host a festive season blood drive from 9am. Their goal is to have at least 150 donors there to help build up the blood stocks for the festive season. If you are interested in donating, send your RSVP to reception@remax-townandcounry.co.za.
