Owners and pets were treated to a fun day out hosted by Mutters at the Bel La Vue guest house with a bunch of competitions and prizes to be won.

There were loads of stalls that sold human and doggy treats, toys and even something to memorialise man’s best friend with.

The K9 Impact Unit and their working dogs entertained the audience with bite-work, obedience and anti-hijacking demonstrations, while Dancing Dogs from Johannesburg did dance demonstrations with six of their owner-dog pairs.

The ball-catching competition guaranteed some chaos.

There were also fun competitions for the pooches to partake in, like the obstacle course, balloon and spoon races, power jumping, ball catching and obedience races. The top four dogs in each class received a rosette.

Mixed breed dogs joined in on the MuttMix Mutt parade and were judged on their personality and unique appearance.

MuttMix is a company that offers DNA testing on dogs to see what breeds they are made up of.

The Best Breed parade was for all the purebred dogs and emphasised responsible breeding and rescued purebreds.

Animals were judged on their personality, their background and how well they represented their breed. Proceeds from this parade went to Animal Allies, which runs a pet sterilisation programme.

A percentage of the ticket sales went to the Husky Romi Wolf Sanctuary, Animal Instincts and Adora-Bull Rescue.

There was a donation station where food, blankets, toys and cash were collected and donated to the three charities supported by Mutters.

All-in-all, it was a fun day out for owners and pets.
