Local rural school receives large donation

The handover took place on Tuesday, 20 November at the school.

The South African KOT Group branch is a branch of the international Bordar Group which is one of China’s biggest and fastest-moving consumer goods suppliers.Lodirile Secondary School in Swanieville recently received a special visit from the KOT Group and a few members of the Adopt-a-School Foundation.

They approached the Adopt-a-School Foundation because they were interested in donating some of the consumer goods which they manufacture. This follows after they learned that the Foundation is committed to addressing the social challenges preventing learners from accessing and fully utilising the opportunities available through basic education.

The handover took place on Tuesday, 20 November, at the school and consisted of sanitary pads – which will enable female learners to attend school during menstruation – and rice to supplement the feeding scheme.

The KOT Group has also pledged to donate disposable diapers to the Adopt-a-School Foundation. These will be channelled to the Kanana Early Childhood Development Centre near Klerksdorp.

Other projects implemented at the school by the foundation include the donation of dictionaries and library books, a cricket pitch, career guidance and study skills programme as well as a strategic planning, leadership, governance and team building programme.
