Cradle of Hope women enjoy festive feast

A Roodepoort businesswoman, author and multiple business award winner took to the Cradle's kitchen with the aim of spoiling its residents.

On Wednesday, 12 December, everyone – the staff as well as the women and children at The Cradle of Hope – had a delicious Christmas feast and received gifts, all sponsored by Ronel Harris.

On this day Ronel, a Roodepoort businesswoman, author and multiple business award winner – took to the Cradle’s kitchen with the aim of spoiling its residents.

A beautifully set table complete with decorations, Christmas crackers, mince pies and gifts for everyone, set the scene for a wonderful afternoon of festivities. The delight could be seen on all the faces and the gratitude was evident.

After lunch, followed by a lovely decadent dessert, Ronel personally handed gifts to each of the women at the home, as well as the staff who work tirelessly to run the place. Ronel then presented a gift and a generous donation to the founder of the Cradle of Hope, Melodie van Brakel.

“Thank you, Melodie, for the wonderful work you do with the women and children at the Cradle,” she said. “You have blessed so many women who would otherwise not have survived.”

Ronel has been the ambassador for the Cradle of Hope for many years, as it is a place that is very close to her heart. She herself was abused as a child and has survived much poverty and heartache growing up, which is why she chose Cradle of Hope as her charity. She often gets involved in various fundraising events for them, as well as making cash donations.

“Growing up, I told myself that one day, when I am a successful business woman, I want to help abused women and children, and now I am living my dream – helping others. Because of what I have been through, this is my way of giving back,” she said.

Ronel’s full story can be read in her book entitled Break Free.

Ronel gave each of the ladies an autographed copy of her book and encouraged them to learn from it. Break Free was recently awarded a 5-star rating in the Self-Help Category, by the internationally acclaimed Book Reviewer ‘Readers Favorite’.

Break Free is available online at www.amazon.com or can be ordered from Ronel’s PR Office through her website www.breakfreebook.co.za and on her social media platforms.

Melodie thanked Ronel from the bottom of her heart for her generosity and said they always look forward to having her at the Cradle.

“We would like to thank Ronel for including the staff in the festivities as they usually get overlooked. They deserve the spoils just as much as the women and children do,” she said.
