Let’s take a look at what transpired from September 2018 through to December.
September:
• The Mug and Tree Soup Kitchen had to abruptly close their doors, leaving about 124 poor residents without the only food they normally received. The reason for the closure was internal strife between the organisation’s owner and the owner of the property it was located on. This also put a lot of strain on other organisations in town to help these destitute residents with food.
• Hoërskool Monument High’s Witbulle, their first rugby team, won the Virseker Beker for the second consecutive time in a nail-biting match against Helpmekaar College.

• Mogale City Traffic Department was involved in an initiative aimed at improving the road safety of children in local schools.
• Jacaranda FM’s The Scenic Drive hosted one of its legendary #Straatbraais in Krugersdorp. It was an epic event which was talked about for days on end. This initiative brought the whole community together in what was labelled an incredible evening among friends and family.
October:
• The WOOF project visited Krugersdorp and set up shop at Cradlestone Mall. This initiative saw dog lovers flocking to the mall in hopes of adopting a new furry friend. The pop-up shelter was a huge success and continued to visit local malls throughout the country in the hope of getting shelter dogs adopted.

• About 200 security guards took to the streets of Krugersdorp en route to Mogale City Local Municipality to demand answers after being laid off. Most of these guards were responsible for community safety and have been working for five years.

November:
• A bottle containing a number of family photographs, like a time capsule, was uncovered over 40 years after it was hidden on a plot in Muldersdrift.
• The MEC for Roads and Transport in Gauteng, Dr Ismail Vadi, announced a proposed expansion to the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link which will see new stations being built in Roodepoort and at Lanseria Airport.
• The trial of the remaining three accused in the #KrugersdorpMurders started in the South Gauteng High Court with witnesses giving their sad and disturbing testimonies.

• In the South Gauteng High Court during the trial of the remaining three accused in the Krugersdorp murders case, convicted murderer Marinda Steyn testified that she and Cecilia Steyn are best friends.
