New Year resolutions not working out? Try just being healthier …
Eating healthy is not only for those who need to lose weight – everyone should lead a balanced lifestyle.
Tried to kick 2019 off with a long list of healthy resolutions and not quite sticking to them? You are not alone.
Where do you start to get back on the right track?
The most important part is to take that first step, whether it is getting rid of the sugar in your cup of coffee or walking during your lunch breaks.
Dr Robyn Holgate, ER24’s Chief Medical Officer, offered a few ‘steps’ to start living your best life, now.
He said that there are simple steps such as consuming less salt and alcohol, and introducing a balanced diet (everything in moderation, of course).
“Exercise regularly, stop smoking, drink more water, and eat more fruit and vegetables. These are all small things you can do to improve your quality of life,” said Robyn.
He also suggested that you should keep your mind happy and healthy by spending more time with family and friends, spend time outdoors, try to manage your stress levels and get more sleep (6–8 hours a day). He said it’s important to keep living a healthy lifestyle because “good nutrition, exercise and healthy behaviours are critical for longevity. Chronic lifestyle diseases are related to unhealthy behaviours such as poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and unhealthy behaviours like tobacco use.”
Eating healthy is not only for those who need to lose weight – everyone should lead a balanced lifestyle. Take that first step today.
