UPDATE: Motorcyclist passed away on his birthday after losing control
Anton Botha passed away on Sunday after losing control of his motorcycle on a sharp bend in the road.
A prominent member of the motorcycling community in the West Rand area, Anton Botha, sadly passed away on 30 December, the day he celebrated his 56th birthday.
According to eyewitness reports, the tyres of Anton’s motorcycle slid on the road as he rounded the bend in front of Burger Box Roadhouse on Voortrekker Road and he lost control of the bike.

He struck the pavement, fell from his motorcycle and died on impact. No other vehicles were involved.
Members of the motorcycling community gathered at the Anchor Pub in Krugersdorp to celebrate Anton’s and one of their other member’s birthdays. Anton was on his way home from this get-together when the accident occurred.

Community Policing Forum Sector 4 members were close by and were first on the scene. They were soon joined by Sector 8 members and promptly helped to cover the scene and regulate traffic.
The cause of the accident has not been established yet, and the findings of the autopsy have also not been released.
