Swift reaction by colleague helps woman

According to the Kagiso Police there has been an influx of common robbery cases.

Thanks to the quick action of a colleague, a Swanieville woman had her belongings returned to her.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson said they have had a number of complaints of women being robbed on their way to or from work.

These women usually have their handbags, cellphones and cash taken.

He said that criminals take advantage of the open spaces these women walk through and that is where they attack them.

One such incident occurred on 7 January when a woman was walking to work at 5.45am and a man stopped her and demanded her belongings.

When he snatched her things she screamed for help. One of her colleagues gave chase and caught the man. The woman’s property was returned to her.

The 22-year-old man was handed over to the Kagiso Police where a common robbery case was opened against him. He will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
