Cluster police make over 400 arrests in one week

This past week the West Rand police cluster made 367 arrests, with an additional 103 arrests during the weekend.

This past week, the West Rand Police Cluster made 367 arrests, with an additional 103 arrests taking place during the weekend.

This cluster includes Kagiso, Krugersdorp and the Randfontein policing precinct.

Some of these arrests made a significant impact on some of the priority crimes and were the result of intelligence-driven operations.

The Kagiso Police conducted tracing operations and made 49 arrests during the week, with an additional nine during the weekend. Some of the more prominent crimes included two attempted murders, two incidents of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, plus interfering with police duties and armed robbery.

Some other arrests included house-breaking and theft, sexual assault and pointing of a firearm and an impressive 18 arrests were made for drugs.

The Krugersdorp Police also did their part by registering 64 arrests during the week and another eight during the weekend.

Suspects were stopped in their tracks when they were caught in possession of stolen property and a record number of nine women were arrested for suspected loitering.

Twelve people were arrested for possession of drugs and two minors were caught for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Other arrests included house-breaking, theft, possession of dagga, shoplifting, common assault and drunk driving.
